If you’re not an FBA seller on Amazon yet, you might want to think about making the switch now! Not only are there additional benefits to being an FBA seller, but Amazon is offering a great promotion right now for FBA sellers with new products. Let’s take a closer look.
Waiving Fees
One concern that many sellers have is the number of fees for FBA sellers. If that’s what’s holding you back, then you should definitely take advantage of Amazon’s latest FBA promotion.
The company is waiving monthly FBA storage and removal fees for a limited time. Amazon is allowing sellers to avoid fees on up to 100 new ASINs. Sellers with eligible new ASINs can store their first 50 units received at fulfillment centers until September 30, 2019, for FREE. Plus, sellers can remove any of those first 50 units from July 1, 2019, to September 30, 2019, without any charges.
What’s the catch?
There isn’t one. Amazon wants to encourage new products to be added to their marketplace, and this is a great way to do that. Whether you’re new to Amazon or just have some products you’ve been waiting to launch, this is the time to try out Amazon fulfillment centers and launch your new product successfully.
E-commerce sellers who are already on Shopify, eBay, or other online platforms should take advantage of this unique promotion, especially if they’ve already thought about launching on Amazon but haven’t yet. If it’s unsuccessful, sellers can always remove their product from fulfillment centers without penalty.
Traditional FBA Fees
So, if Amazon is waiving FBA fees until September 30, what do the normal fees look like? In general, FBA fees are based on the weight and size of your products. Standard-size products weigh less than 20 pounds and measure less than 18” x 14” x 8”. Products larger or heavier are considered oversize and get additional fees.
But it can get a little more complicated than that.
The primary fees include monthly storage fees and fulfillment fees. Fulfillment fees include packing supplies, including the cost of boxes and inner packing, along with the shipping costs. The monthly storage fees are the cost of storing your products in a fulfillment warehouse. This fee is based on how much space your product takes up.
In addition to these primary fees, FBA sellers have to remember their seller fee, which is usually around 15% of the selling price of your products. The seller fee is charged to all Amazon sellers regardless of whether they use fulfillment centers.
Because these fees can get confusing, Amazon has created a handy fee calculator where sellers can predict their FBA fees with pretty good accuracy. You can type in your product name, ASIN, or a similar ASIN. Then you can set your selling price, product cost, and shipping fees to discover your net profit and net margin. This tool directly compares Amazon fulfillment to your fulfillment to give you a good idea of what the additional fees would be.
In the end, we know that Amazon fulfillment centers can make life easier for sellers, especially ones who have a lot of product to worry about. If fees are what’s stopping you from trying Amazon or becoming an FBA seller, then you can try Amazon fulfillment until the end of September with minimal fees, so now is the time to sign up!
